My Story: From Island Life to Global Wildlife Adventures

I grew up on the beautiful island of Noonu Lhohi, surrounded by vibrant mangroves, tall trees, and the endless blue of the ocean. As a teenager, my brothers, friends, and I explored uninhabited islands nearby—snorkeling, fishing, climbing trees, and uncovering the hidden wonders of our environment. Our voyages were often made on traditional sailing boats crafted by my father, a skilled carpenter whose craftsmanship literally carried our dreams.

This early connection with nature shaped who I am today. Beyond these childhood adventures, I spent six months fishing for yellowfin tuna, deepening my bond with the ocean and its creatures.

Family and Friendship: The Heart of Wildscapes

In a family of craftsmen, my father’s work building boats was the foundation for many explorations. My brothers have been instrumental in supporting my photography journey, helping with cameras and equipment that have led to multiple wins in nature photography contests.

My wife, lovely son, and family continue to be my greatest supporters. Their encouragement makes it possible for me to pursue my passion. Many friends have also played important roles in this journey, assisting me in various ways and inspiring me along the path.

Mangrove Memories and Expanding Horizons

Growing up on the island, life felt like a never-ending song of exploration and joy. I spent countless hours running and playing in the mangrove areas, which fostered a deep love and respect for nature. These memories are some of my most treasured.

My travels have taken me far beyond the Maldives, allowing me to experience diverse wildlife habitats across Asia. In Sri Lanka, I explored mangroves and wetlands such as Mannar Island, Wilpattu National Park, Yala National Park, Bundala National Park, Horton Plains, Hunas Falls, Muthurajawela Marsh River Safari, and Beddagana Wetland Park.

I have also visited Indonesia’s West Java forests and the volcanic landscapes of Tangkuban Perahu, capturing the unique flora and fauna of these rich habitats.

During shorter trips to Malaysia and Singapore, I focused on bird photography, enjoying the opportunity to capture  species in urban parks and natural reserves.

From elusive leopards and deer to colorful birds and lush mangroves, these experiences have broadened my perspective and enriched my photo collection.
